Description

A well-established catering business is recruiting a Pastry Chef.

 

Main Duties:

Reporting to the Executive Chef, the job incumbent shall primarily be responsible to:

  • prepare desserts and pastries for day to day orders, functions and events
  • ensure each peice of food is safe, prepared correctly and tasty
  • guide and motivate subordinates to work more efficiently
  • maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards
  • minimize wastage of raw materials for the preparation of pastries
  • assist in the design and implementation of controls in the pastry section for due diligence purposes

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certificate in culinary arts, pastry making, baking or relevant field
  • A minimum of 5 years of work experience in food / hospitality service with atleast 2 years of experience as Pastry Chef

Skills & Competencies:

  • Great attention to detail and creativity
  • Good organizing and planning skills
  • In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques
  • Familiar with the Food Act of Mauritius
  • Working knowledge of baking with ingredients limitations (pastries that are gluten-free, sugarless, etc.)
  • Ability to work in team
  • Ability to work in a flexible schedule
