The Hotel Kitchen Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing all kitchen-related equipment and appliances within the hotel.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair commercial kitchen equipment such as ovens, fryers, grills, mixers, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, steamers, and food processors.
Perform regular preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of kitchen equipment.
Diagnose and fix electrical, gas, and plumbing issues related to kitchen appliances.
Ensure all kitchen equipment complies with hotel safety and hygiene standards.
Perform regular checks on gas lines, ventilation systems, and fire suppression systems in kitchen areas.
Maintain cleanliness and safety around all work areas, especially while performing repairs during kitchen operations.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
Report major issues or the need for replacement of equipment to the Maintenance Coordinator or Engineering Supervisor.
Assist in preparing maintenance budgets for kitchen equipment.
Work closely with the Executive Chef and kitchen team to minimize disruption during repairs.
Provide technical advice on safe usage of equipment and potential improvements.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical certification in refrigeration, electrical, or mechanical systems preferred.
Certification in gas handling or food equipment servicing is an added advantage.
Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in kitchen equipment maintenance, preferably in a hotel or food service environment.
Experience working with commercial kitchen equipment (hot and cold) is essential.
Strong knowledge of electrical, gas, and plumbing systems as they relate to kitchen appliances.
Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical diagrams.
Good troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and during peak kitchen hours.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Physically fit to handle heavy equipment and work in hot kitchen environments.
Familiarity with hotel maintenance protocols and health & safety regulations.
