The Sales Engineer will be responsible for promoting and selling electrical and photovoltaic (PV) systems by providing technical expertise, developing client relationships, identifying early-stage sales opportunities, and supporting projects from specification through to completion.

 

Job Summary

The Sales Engineer will be responsible for promoting and selling electrical and photovoltaic (PV) systems by providing technical expertise, developing client relationships, identifying early-stage sales opportunities, and supporting projects from specification through to completion. The role combines strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness to achieve sales objectives and contribute to business growth. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell electrical products and systems, with a strong focus on photovoltaic (PV) solutions.
  • Identify and pursue sales opportunities at early project stages and communicate these effectively to internal team members to support departmental objectives.
  • Prepare and deliver technical and commercial presentations to clients, consultants, developers, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare accurate quotations, technical submittals, and specification write-ups for engineering consultants, contractors, and project teams.
  • Achieve individual and departmental sales targets in line with company objectives.
  • Build, develop, and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, developers, contractors, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain project and account tracking systems, including activity logs, sales pipelines, and progress reports.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams (engineering, procurement, and project management) to ensure successful project execution.
  • Prepare and implement marketing plans and strategies to promote photovoltaic systems and related equipment.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies in the photovoltaic and electrical sectors.

 

 Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Building Services Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar sales or technical-commercial role.
  • Previous experience in a commercial or project-based environment will be considered an advantage.
  • Proven experience in photovoltaic systems or renewable energy solutions is highly desirable
  • Strong technical understanding of electrical and photovoltaic systems.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • High level of organisation and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Commercial awareness and customer-focused mindset.
