To act as an assistant to the Senior Manager – Park Operations and also be responsible for feeding, administering medication, cleaning and maintaining the animal’s enclosures
The Zoology Lead has the responsibility for for feeding, administering medication, cleaning and maintaining the animal’s enclosures
Being in this role, you will be involved but not limited to:
- Animal Health and Welfare Compliance:
Ensure 100% compliance with animal health and welfare standards, with no major violations, by conducting regular checks and coordinating with veterinary support as needed - Daily Task Completion Rate:
Achieve 95% on-time completion of daily husbandry tasks (feeding, cleaning, and health checks) as per standard operating procedures - Animal Enclosure Maintenance:
Conduct bi-monthly maintenance checks on enclosures and ensure 100% compliance with safety and cleanliness standards, coordinating with maintenance teams for timely repairs - Keeper Training and Development Sessions:
Conduct a minimum of 4 training sessions per quarter for zookeeper staff, focusing on care protocols, safety, and best practices in animal husbandry - Visitor Interaction Programs Support:
Provide reliable support for visitor interaction programs, ensuring animal welfare - Strategic Animal Care and Conservation Planning:
Develop and implement a comprehensive annual care and conservation plan that aligns with Casela’s long-term goals, achieving 100% plan execution in collaboration with the veterinary and management teams - Team Performance and Development:
Conduct bi-annual performance reviews for all team members, setting individual development plans - Cost Efficiency in Animal Care Operations:
Achieve a 10% reduction in operational costs related to animal care (feed, medical, and maintenance costs) by implementing efficient resource management practices - Responsible of the daily delegation of work and work schedules of all staff
- Supervise and coach all workers and ensure staff welfare in the department
Candidate’s Profile:
- Holds at least a certification in animal science, biology or zoology, or a related field
- Proven experience of animal husbandry practices
- Animal Care – sound knowledge of the care and handling of animals, including feeding, controlling, restraining, and general health and injuries
- Knowledge of animal behaviour, husbandry, and welfare
- Knowledge of proper animal handling techniques for animals in assigned work group
- Ability to communicate clearly in a written and oral fashion
- Ability to speak and interact with the public
- Be prepared to work odd hours and during weekends
