✅ Key Responsibilities:*
*🌻 Plant Production & Care:*
- Manage propagation, potting, and cultivation of trees, shrubs, and perennials
- Implement IPM (Integrated Pest Management) and fertilization programs
- Monitor irrigation systems and environmental controls (greenhouse/shade structures)
- Maintain plant health and labeling
*📊 Inventory & Sales Management:*
- Procure plant material from wholesale growers; negotiate pricing
- Track inventory turnover using software.
- Design seasonal displays to boost retail sales
- Train staff on plant knowledge and upselling techniques
*👥 Team Leadership:*
- Schedule and supervise nursery staff (5–10 employees)
- Conduct training in planting techniques, customer service, and safety
- Collaborate with landscaping crews on plant selections for client projects
*💰 Business Operations:*
- Develop annual nursery budget with ownership
- Analyze P&L statements to identify growth opportunities
- Plan seasonal promotions and wholesale outreach to landscapers
*🔍 Qualifications:*
- *3+ years nursery management experience* (retail or production)
- *Deep horticultural knowledge* (hardiness zones, soil science, pest/disease ID)
- *Business acumen* – inventory control, retail pricing, vendor relations
- *Leadership skills* – able to motivate seasonal teams
- *Physical ability* – lift 50 lbs, work outdoors in all weather
*Bonus Skills:*
- Certification in horticulture (e.g., CNLP, ISA Arborist)
