As Manager – Credit Underwriting, you will be responsible for evaluating credit applications, mitigating lending risks, and supporting the development of a high-performing team. Your insights will directly influence business decisions, ensuring compliance, competitiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibility
- Conduct in-depth analysis of complex credit and lease applications, including risk and security assessments, and prepare detailed reports for approval.
- Summarize key financial insights, including return to company, risk factors, and mitigation strategies to support sound credit decisions.
- Ensure timely processing and reporting of credit applications and rescheduling requests, aligned with internal and external SLAs.
- Stay current on risk and compliance standards, including legal, regulatory, and ethical frameworks, and apply best practices in credit analysis.
- Continuously assess market and economic trends to anticipate potential impacts on customer creditworthiness and business performance.
- Review and enhance underwriting tools and models annually to maintain competitiveness and minimize non-performing loans (NPLs).
- Lead the development of SOPs and contribute to strategic planning, ensuring alignment with company goals and performance tracking mechanisms.
- Coach and develop team members, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement while ensuring recruitment and performance management align with company policies.
- Monitor and manage team workload, ensuring efficient distribution and adherence to service level agreements.
- Track and report departmental performance, including preparation of statistics and strategic insights for upper management.
Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years in a banking environment, with at least 3 years in a credit/risk role.
- Mastery of financial analysis, accounting principles, and credit vetting processes.
- Advanced MS Excel skills (pivots, macros, formulas).
- Strong understanding of economic, legal, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience analyzing security and legal documentation.
- Proficient in preparing professional reports and presentations.
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
