The incumbent will be responsible for effectively managing the bank’s liquidity position to maximize returns from investments and foreign exchange activities, under the supervision of the Head of Financial Markets.
Main responsibilities
- Manage exchange rates and foreign exchange (FX) placements to enhance the bank’s profitability
- Oversee the Treasury Bills and Notes portfolio to ensure optimal yields and risk management
- Proactively manage the bank’s balance sheet to avoid idle funds and ensure efficient deployment of treasury assets
- Monitor and manage the bank’s FX position and overall liquidity in both MUR and foreign currencies (FCY), including compliance with regulatory ratios
- Build and maintain relationships with financial institutions, exchange companies, corporates, and retail clients for the buying and selling of currencies
- Conduct regular visits to existing and potential clients to expand the bank’s FX transaction volume
- Identify and onboard new clients with high FX activity to grow the bank’s FX business.
- Address client complaints effectively and provide timely resolutions
- Ensure strict adherence to the bank’s internal policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of regulatory reports, including to the Bank of Mauritius
- Perform any other related duties, as may be assigned.
Technical and Soft Competencies/Skills, Knowledge

- Knowledge of Central Bank’s guidelines and other relevant local legislations
- Sound knowledge of treasury products such as money markets, FX, swaps, and derivatives is a strong advantage
- Strong Planning, Negotiation and Communication skills
- Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to leverage data for informed decision-making.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
- Professional certification such as ACI Dealing Certificate is highly recommended
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a treasury function within the banking sector.
