This position provides implementation, administration, support, monitoring and maintenance of the SQL Database environment.
The DBA is responsible for timely user problem resolution, including problem recognition, isolation and resolution/escalation. Also involves regular interaction with hardware and support specialists.
Required Traits:
• Provide administration and support for mission critical and pre-production database environments;
• Provide 24x7 on-call administration and support. Work with client support, developers and IT personnel to resolve daytime and after-hours support issues in a timely manner and as required by service level agreements;
• Perform and manage daily database maintenance, monitoring and performance tuning tasks/jobs;
• Responsible for database disaster recovery of all database environments which includes managing and supporting SQL backup policies;
• Identify and document performance and scaling improvements to R&D;
• Manage storage environments for SQL data, logs and backups including optimization, monitoring space and providing growth statistics;
• Assist in the design and implementation of security, auditing and integrity controls;
• Provide expert SQL Server knowledge and solutions
• Actively discuss, review, and recommend technical options and activities with the team;
• Proactively make recommendations and resolve technical system issues to improve SQL stability;
• Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the SQL infrastructure and SQL systems;
• Assist with the maintenance of test, development and staging database environments.
Preferred Experience:
• At least 7+ years of recent experience maintaining and administrating mission-critical database environments;
• Experience in large enterprise production environments with high transaction volume;
• Experience in SQL Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2012;
• Strong T-SQL , SQL Profiler skills;
• Experience with database triaging, tuning and monitoring;
• Familiarity with Standard Change Control Procedures;
• Clear understanding of database design, referential integrity and application development life cycle;
• Clear understanding of database hardware design and disk subsystems;
• Understanding of programming with C# in Microsoft Visual Studio environment;
• Prefer experience with SQL transactional replication;
• Prefer experience with SQL Clustering;
• Prefer experience with Virtualization technologies in a database environment;
• Prefer SQL Server Certification.
