We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Department in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing management accounts for small entities, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and assisting the Finance Manager with monthly and annual closing processes

 

Key Responsibilities

ACCOUNTING:

  • Prepare quarterly management accounts for entities within the Group.
  • Ensure proper invoicing and recharge of intercompany fees to sister companies

STATUTORY COMPLIANCE:

  • Ensure all statutory filings with the MRA are completed for entities within the Group
  • Review VAT and TDS returns for our companies
  • Proceed with filing and payment of APS and CT for all entities of the Group

MONTH-END AND YEAR-END CLOSINGS:

 

  • Assist with the filing of Financial Statements with the Group
  • Ensure General Ledger (GL) accounts such as accruals, prepayments, and other receivables are up to date.
  • Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register (FAR).
  • Record necessary entries related to capital expenditures (CAPEX).

AUDIT & ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT:

 

  • Assist and provide necessary information to external auditors as requested
  • Maintain and reconcile petty cash on a weekly basis
  • Lead and assist with the annual inventory count at the Head Office

FINANCIAL REPORTING:

  • Prepare and provide reports requested by the Group, including balance sheet reconciliations and store portfolio reports.
  • Assist with any ad-hoc reports requested by the CEO or the Group

Profile of candidate

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting and preparing management accounts and assisting with audits.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Capable of delivering under tight deadlines.
  • Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates integrity
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team
  • Acca level 1 or completed or in progress would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations (e.g., VAT, TDS, APS, CT).
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude

Preferred Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and word.
  • Familiar with accounting software such as Azurmind
  • Solid understanding of general ledger functions, month-end/year-end closing, and financial statements.
