To prepare customs Declaration within the Customs Legal Framework.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Validate all necessary documents for clearing of goods from customs, ensuring compliance with the Customs & Excise Act and applicable regulations
  • Prepare and send draft of declaration of goods to client for approval and afterwards have documents validated by the Customs office (MRA).
  • Classify goods accurately in accordance with the Customs Harmonized System (HS Code) to ensure correct declaration and duties & taxes application.
  • Follow up and respond to queries from Customs, if any.
  • Be able to handle customs declaration for air customs formalities.
  • Follow up of documents on the Customs Management System and ensure that all formalities are respected until payment is done.
  • Apply for, follow up and ensure timely receipt of import/export permits, certificates and approvals from relevant authorities, as applicable.
  • Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to provide clarification on customs requirements and clearance status. 
  • Provide feedback to Team Leader concerning all important issues to find out appropriate solutions promptly.
  • Ensure full compliance with all laws, regulations, company policies and enactments governing import and export activities.
  • Assist in any cognate duties.

Qualification & Competencies:

  • Higher School Certificate or any other qualifications acceptable to Management.
  • Experience in Customs Brokerage and Freight Forwarding Business including Customs Procedures and preparation of Import and Export Declarations.
  • Good understanding of the local legislation, government regulations among others.
  • Excellent Knowledge of the MNS System, Customs Harmonized Systems Code (HS Code), Incoterms are mandatory.
  • Customs House Broker license will be an advantage.
  • Well versed with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in data entry and document verification.
  • Strong personality with excellent communication skills in both English and French;
  • Should be team player, creative, proactive, resourceful and demonstrate professionalism;
  • Valid Driving License and ready to work after odd hours.
