Our client is seeking to recruit a Safety and Health Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all OSH policies, procedures, rules and regulations are communicated and adhered to.
- Assess the need for preventive measures to safeguard the safety and health of employees and any other collaborators within the company.
- Inspect and evaluate workplace environment, equipment, and practices, to ensure compliance with safety standards and legal requirements.
- Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
- Carry out investigations on incidents, complaints and recurrent health cases to identify and provide solutions to workplace situations.
- Conduct appropriate safety and health induction and training session and ensure training records are maintained.
- Implement and monitor safety & health policies and procedures.
- Organize regular safety & health committees as per legal provisions.
- Organize appropriate occupational safety & health programs.
- Recommend necessary actions or procedural changes to correct areas not in compliance with safety & health regulations.
Profile:
- BSc in Safety and Health Management or any other equivalent qualification.
- Sound knowledge of OSHA 2005.
- Sound knowledge of Safety and Health Practices/Policies & Procedures.
- Conversant with MS Office Suite.
- Effective communication, organizational and time management skills.
- Analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Detail and results-oriented.
- Holder of a valid driving license.
- At least 2 years of proven experience in a similar role.
- Experience in the retail sector will constitute an advantage.
- Ability to work under pressure.
