The Transport Officer is responsible for managing the company’s fleet and transport operations to ensure the efficient, safe, and cost-effective movement of people, materials, and equipment.
                         
                        Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Management
- Maintain an up-to-date register of all Company Vehicles
- Ensure that vehicles are serviced and maintained as per schedule
- Liaise with the service providers for vehicle repair and maintenance
- Monitor vehcile mileage, FUEL consumption, and maintenance costs
- Ensure that all vehicles have valid road tax, insurance, and fitness certificates
- Coordinate regular vehicle inspections and report any faults or damages
- Liaise with insurance companies in case of accidents or claims
- Verify that vehicles are equipped with a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, triangle, etc
- Report vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or incidents immediately to management
- Conduct spot checks on vehicles and drivers to ensure compliance 
Transport Planning & Coordination 
- Plan and schedule daily transportation of workers based on operatiojnal needs
- Liaise with Contract Managers/ Engineers/ Site Agents to anticipate transport requirements
- Liaise with Transport Contractors for transport requirements
- Liaise with the Procurement Department to coordinate transport for materials, tools, and equipment
Drivers Supervision
- Supervise, brief, and monitor drivers' performance and discipline
- Ensure that drivers comply with traffic laws and Company transport policies
- Monitor drivers' trips for delivery of material, tools & equipment on sites to ensure efficiency
Cost Control
- Seek quotations from different Transport Contractors for new routes
- Negotiate with Transport Contractors for best price
- Monitor FUEL and maintenance expenses to prevent wastage or misuse
- Identify cost-saving opportunites in transport operations
- Verify and approve transport-related invoices (FUEL, repairs, etc.) before submission
Administrative Duties 
- Maintain records of vehicle usage, repairs, and maintenance
- Prepare monthly transport reports (FUEL usage, maintenance cost,etc.)
- Keep proper records of FUEL cards and consumption
- Organise regular meetings with Transport Contractors and other departments as and when needed
 Qualififactions & Experience:
- HSC
- Minimum 3 years of working experience in similar position 
Other Requisites:
- Mauritian Citizenship
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Proactiveness 
- Computer literate and fully conversant with MS Office applications
