The role of the Team Leader – Data Analytics is to lead a team whilst solving key business questions by deriving analytical insights from large datasets using appropriate skills, tools and techniques.

 

  • The Team Leader – data Analytics will ensure that the scorecard and business rule engine function in an optimal way by monitoring, proposing and implementing appropriate enhancements. 
  • The Team Leader will support the Head of Analytics in developing and implementing the Data Analytics strategy. 
  • Lead and/or Collaborate with stakeholders to understand market trends, customer needs and pain points.
  • Analysis of customer & market data and presentation of useful insights which will help shape Cim Finance’s offerings.
  • Implementation of advanced modelling tools and techniques to support business growth
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand their business drivers, challenges and analytics requirements to deliver actionable insights
  • Develop and review scripts to extract relevant data to support analytical assignments and ensure data integrity and quality
  • Explore and examine data from a variety of angles to determine hidden trends/opportunities and recommend solutions 
  • Develop, deploy and automate dashboards showing key information and insights to the business based on data mining, analysis and visualisation
  • Drive data governance initiatives to enhance awareness on use of data
  • Lead the development, testing and implementation of scorecards, analytical models and business rules
  • Provide inputs for the monthly Risk Analytics Form and ensure follow-ups of approved decisions
  • Constant upskilling into advanced analytics and AI/ML, and recommend innovative solutions that can generate value for the business
  • Supports the Head of Analytics in implementing the Data Analytics strategy and consolidating the Data Analytics team
  • Skills sharing and coaching of members of the team
  • Help in coaching team members on relationship development, service quality and risk.
  • Coaches, develops and motivates team.
  • Evaluates performance for growth opportunities and provides regular feedback.
  • Ensure the right caliber of staff are recruited, and in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Ensure that poor performance is remedied via support, training or disciplinary action as appropriate.
  • Liaise with Human Resources on all employment issues.
  • Build a positive team culture with strong positive engagement
  • Maintain good relationship with key stakeholders and provide good customer service.
  • Perform any other cognate duties as may be required within the Business Unit.
Experience
  • Degree in Actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science or related subjects
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in data/modelling or related fields
  • Good understanding of the financial industry
  • Experience in managing relationships with diverse stakeholders, including internal teams.
  • Proficient in scripting, modelling and forecasting techniques
  • Value added to the business through analytics and data
  • Coaching and mentoring of team members
  • Identification of business risks and opportunities by blending internal data with broader economic and market conditions
  • Building and deployment of analytics models including scorecards, impairment and profitability
  • Leading the monthly analytics reporting
  • Delivery of key dashboards and analytics projects and ensuring that the deadlines are met
  • Stake holder feedback with regards to quality of insights and analysis
