Are you highly analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about international trade and tax compliance? My client based in the North of Mauritius is going to appoint a Tax Analyst to join their compliance department.
Qualifications required:
- Strong academic background with excellent high school results.
- A university undergraduate degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) is preferred.
- An Honours degree would be advantageous.
Skills and experience required:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical thinking.
- Proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Research-driven and adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply your expertise in duties, taxes, and levies to ensure compliance across international trade activities.
- Accurately capture duty and tax information from customs clearance documents.
- Critically review system-generated tax discrepancies:
- Identify the root causes.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to ensure tax and classification systems are updated and accurate.
- Maintain up-to-date country-specific tax structures and databases, leveraging automation tools such as RPA (Robotic Process Automation).
- Proactively research and interpret legislative changes in tax and trade policies.
- Translate updates into internal tax and classification databases to ensure ongoing compliance and accuracy.
- Support the coordination and execution of large, high-value projects, ensuring all elements are effectively tracked and managed.
