Are you highly analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about international trade and tax compliance? My client based in the North of Mauritius is going to appoint a Tax Analyst to join their compliance department.

 

Are you highly analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about international trade and tax compliance? My client based in the North of Mauritius is going to appoint a Tax Analyst to join their compliance department.

 

Qualifications required:

  • Strong academic background with excellent high school results.
  • A university undergraduate degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) is preferred.
  • An Honours degree would be advantageous.

Skills and experience required:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical thinking.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, able to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Research-driven and adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply your expertise in duties, taxes, and levies to ensure compliance across international trade activities.
  • Accurately capture duty and tax information from customs clearance documents.
  • Critically review system-generated tax discrepancies:
    • Identify the root causes.
    • Develop and implement corrective actions to ensure tax and classification systems are updated and accurate.
  • Maintain up-to-date country-specific tax structures and databases, leveraging automation tools such as RPA (Robotic Process Automation).
  • Proactively research and interpret legislative changes in tax and trade policies.
    • Translate updates into internal tax and classification databases to ensure ongoing compliance and accuracy.
  • Support the coordination and execution of large, high-value projects, ensuring all elements are effectively tracked and managed.
