The Solar PV Design Engineer is responsible for developing detailed engineering designs and plans for solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The role involves close collaboration with project managers, developers, and clients to deliver efficient, cost-effective, and compliant solar solutions. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise in solar PV systems, proficiency in design software, and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. System Design

• Conduct site assessments and collect relevant data to determine optimal system layout and configuration
• Design solar PV system layouts, including modules, inverters, mounting structures, and electrical components
• Perform system sizing, energy yield estimations, and financial analyses to support feasibility studies

2. Engineering Analysis

• Perform shading analysis, electrical load calculations, and system simulations using tools such as PVsyst, Helioscope, or PVSOL
• Evaluate system performance under varying environmental conditions to optimize energy output and return on investment

3. Electrical Design

• Develop single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics
• Size electrical components such as conductors, fuses, and breakers in compliance with relevant standards (e.g., NEC, IEC)

4. Structural Design & Compliance

• Design mounting systems and structural supports adapted to site-specific and environmental conditions
• Conduct structural analysis to ensure system integrity and safety
• Prepare permit documentation and ensure compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations, and utility requirements

5. Collaboration & Communication

• Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and clients to review and validate design requirements
• Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle
• Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) during construction
• Present design proposals and resolve technical issues with stakeholders

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Prepare detailed design documentation including drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports
• Maintain accurate records of revisions, project updates, and communications
• Support proposal preparation, bidding processes, and procurement activities (quantities, lead times, equipment selection)
• Contribute to project close-out documentation, including as-built drawings

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in design software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, electrical engineering, and structural design principles
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC, ASCE)

Qualifications
