Responsible for a broad range of treasury and finance functions, with a focus on repatriation compliance, bank cost management, financing oversight, and long-term liquidity monitoring.
Repatriation compliance
• Provide guidance on the opening and management of export licenses.
• Allocate incoming foreign currency to appropriate bank accounts.
• Reconcile export licenses with banking transactions and ensure timely closure of used licenses.
• Maintain and update repatriation and license trackers.
• Monitor repatriation thresholds to ensure regulatory compliance.
Bank charges management
• Review bank statements regularly to scrutinize and validate bank charges.
• Prepare and review monthly and quarterly bank charges reports.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and negotiate with banks to optimize charges.
• Implement reporting enhancements and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with site finance teams and banks.
• Review treasury cost center budgets on an annual basis.
Finance costs monitoring
• Analyse bank statements to identify finance cost-related transactions.
• Review, finalize, and communicate repayment schedules to site finance teams.
• Monitor intercompany loan books and ensure timely reporting of finance costs.
External financing & covenant reporting
• Maintain up-to-date records for revenue commitments and cash allocations per bank.
• Monitor financial covenants using 18 months financial forecasts and perform scenario analysis.
• Prepare and submit quarterly and annual covenant reports to group Treasury.
• Coordinate the submission of quarterly and annual financial reports, including sales, management accounts, and audited financial statements.
Renewals of external financing facilities
• Lead discussions for the renewal of external financing facilities.
• Secure necessary internal approvals and oversee the execution of facility documents.
• Ensure timely submission of original documents to banks and maintain proper documentation records.
Liquidity and debt management
• Collaborate with the forecasting team to align debt assumptions with the 18 months forecast.
• Review and validate debt assumptions and update liquidity models specific to the African region.
Qualifications, Experience & Core Competencies
Education & certifications
• Professional certification such as ACCA, ACA or CIMA (fully qualified).
Experience
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, audit, or advisory roles.
• Proven experience with financial reporting, cost analysis, and covenant compliance.
Technical skills
• Strong understanding of treasury operations, repatriation processes, and banking regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including advanced functions and modelling).
• Familiarity with ERP systems.
