We're looking for a 'Senior HR Manager' to provide leadership and oversight of all People Operations activities within the Leisure cluster.
Overview of the Role:
The Senior HR Manager provides leadership and oversight of all People Operations activities within the Leisure cluster. The role ensures HR operations are delivered effectively by managing and guiding the HR Manager and team, while also aligning with broader group-wide HR strategies. Acting as a strategic partner to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the Leisure Cluster, the Senior HR Manager drives talent management, workforce planning, compliance, and employee engagement, ensuring that the Leisure cluster maintains a high-performance, engaged, and compliant workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and support the HR team to ensure high-quality HR service delivery.
- Define team priorities, allocate responsibilities, and foster accountability and service excellence.
- Mentor the HR Manager to strengthen their leadership capacity and operational expertise.
- Act as key advisor to the COO on all people-related matters, providing insights and recommendations for decision-making.
- Translate group HR strategies into cluster-level initiatives that are practical and measurable.
- Partner with the Head of People Operations to ensure consistency across clusters.
- Anticipate workforce risks and propose proactive solutions.
- Maintain strong visibility in the operations by spending regular time on-site in the various leisure entities.
- Build trusted relationships with BUs Managers, HODs, and operational teams to understand challenges and propose tailored HR solutions.
- Support managers in handling complex employee relations, disciplinary cases, and grievances.
- Ensure HR practices reflect engagement and performance culture.
- Oversee cluster-wide performance management, ensuring fairness and consistency.
- Identify high-potential employees and support succession planning with COO & Head of People Operations.
- Drive workforce planning to ensure optimal staffing levels and anticipate future needs.
- Champion initiatives that boost engagement, retention, and recognition.
- Establish and monitor People Operations KPIs (turnover, absenteeism, retention, training completion, etc.).
- Provide regular HR dashboards and reports to COO and Head of People Operations.
- Leverage data analytics to identify trends and propose corrective actions.
- Ensure effective use of HRIS and reporting tools for accuracy and efficiency.
- Prepare and manage the HR budget for the Leisure cluster.
- Oversee payroll, allowances, and benefits administration.
- Monitor HR cost efficiency and provide recommendations for optimisation.
- Ensure compliance with labour laws, HR policies, and group standards across the cluster.
- Monitor adherence to health, safety, and welfare standards.
- Manage sensitive employee relations issues with confidentiality and integrity.
- Escalate risks to COO and Head of People Operations, ensuring proactive mitigation.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Professional HR certification considered is an advantage.
- Strong previous experience in HR/People Operations.
- Solid expertise in Mauritian labour laws, HR compliance, and employee relations
- Proven track record in talent management, workforce planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Strong analytical and data-driven mindset with ability to interpret KPIs and HR dashboards
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and advisory skills with senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching ability, and capacity to manage and develop HR teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels
