Senior Data Engineer

The role will focus on developing reliable, scalable data pipelines and warehouses, ensuring data quality and availability for business intelligence, regulatory reporting, and operational teams. Experience with Amazon Redshift and Metabase is highly desirable.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
  • Develop and optimise data models and schemas within Amazon Redshift
  • Ensure high data quality, accuracy, and consistency across multiple data sources
  • Support analytics, finance, risk, and operations teams with reliable and timely datasets
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting layers, working closely with Metabase
  • Monitor data performance, costs, and query efficiency within the data warehouse
  • Implement best practices around data governance, access control, and security
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and compliance teams to support business and regulatory requirements
  • Troubleshoot data issues and perform root-cause analysis
  • Document data architecture, pipelines, and processes

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in data engineering or related roles
  • Strong experience building and maintaining data warehouses and pipelines
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon Redshift (or similar cloud data warehouse)
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with large datasets
  • Experience working with BI and analytics tools; Metabase experience preferred
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data architectures (AWS preferred)
  • Experience working with financial, transactional, or high-volume data

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience in financial services, fintech, brokerage, or payments environments
  • Exposure to regulated environments with data accuracy and audit requirements
  • Experience with streaming or near-real-time data processing
  • Knowledge of data orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow or similar)
  • Understanding of data security, privacy, and access management
