The Safety & Health Lead will drive Cim Finance workplace safety initiatives and ensure full compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and its latest amendments.

 

Job Purpose: 

In this role, you will develop and implement safety policies, conduct risk assessments, and drive a culture of health and safety across the organization. You will work closely with all departments to identify risks, deliver training, and manage incident investigations. As the key point of contact for all safety matters, your expertise will help maintain a safe, compliant, and supportive work environment for all employees

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, and implement Safety & Health policies in line with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and ensure all employees adhere to these policies at all times.
  • Ensure the company meets all legal obligations regarding health, safety, and welfare at work, including mandatory training and statutory reporting.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure timely corrective actions are taken.
  • Investigate safety-related complaints and incidents promptly, document findings, and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
  • Evaluate and implement preventive strategies to safeguard the health and safety of employees and visitors on company premises.
  • Design and deliver a structured training program in collaboration with the Learning and Development Department,
  • Serve as the primary contact for safety-related queries and concerns, promoting open communication between management and staff.
  • Lead the Safety & Health Committee, ensuring effective follow-up on action items and fostering a collaborative safety culture.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports to senior management on safety performance, incidents, and compliance status.
  • Stay updated with legislative changes and industry best practices and drive continuous improvement in safety standards and procedures. 

 

Candidate Profile:

  • BSc in Occupational Safety & Health (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years as a registered Safety & Health Officer, preferably in a retail or corporate environment
  • Strong knowledge of Mauritian OSH legislation
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Proficient in IT tools and safety management systems
  • Adaptable and collaborative mindset
  • Valid driving license
