Payroll Lead

The United Basalt Products Limited is seeking a meticulous and motivated Payroll Lead to join its HR Department at the Head Office. This role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal part in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and efficiency of payroll operations across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full payroll cycle for assigned companies, ensuring 100% on-time and accurate salary processing.
• Finalise payroll calculations, prepare bank files, upload payment instructions, and distribute payslips.
• Ensure compliance with labour laws, tax regulations, and company policies; monitor legislative changes and update payroll processes.
• Perform monthly reconciliations with General Ledger, bank accounts, and control accounts.
• Prepare payroll reports, statutory returns (PAYE, NPS, CSO, MRA), HR dashboards, and cost trend analyses.
• Assist in annual payroll budgeting and monitor variances between actual and budgeted costs.

 Candidate Profile

• Education: HSC with Accounting. A university degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in payroll or a similar function, preferably with exposure to diverse industries governed by different labour legislation and Remuneration Orders.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in payroll systems (Sicorax HRMS) and Time Attendance software.
• Strong knowledge of Mauritian labour laws and statutory requirements.
• Excellent reconciliation, analytical, and mathematical skills.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
