This role provides day-to-day legal support to Medine and all its subsidiaries.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Legal Function
Legal Research and Analysis:
- Conduct and present legal research on various topics related to real estate law, AML/CFT regulations, and other relevant legal areas.
- Analyze and interpret legislation, case law, and regulatory guidance to provide accurate and timely advice to internal stakeholders.
Contract Drafting and Review:
- Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to real estate transactions and compliance matters.
- Ensure contracts comply with legal requirements and company policies.
Legal Advisory
- Provide legal advice and guidance to internal clients on a wide range of legal matters, including but not limited to real estate transactions, regulatory compliance, and contractual issues.
Litigation
- Have oversight of the litigation registers
- Supervise legal assistants in relation to litigation coordination
- Ensure that litigation files are complete and up to date
- Review case pleadings
2. Compliance Functions
- Take a leading role in AML/CFT compliance efforts related to real estate transactions.
- Provide guidance on client onboarding procedures including the identification of ultimate beneficial owners.
- Participate in the supervision and training of compliance analysts and legal assistants to ensure adherence to AML/CFT regulations.
- Advocate for and push forward the AML/CFT compliance agenda in appropriate forums.
- Assist with regulatory requests and inspections
- Assist in the digital transformation of the Compliance function
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and updating policies and procedures related to AML/CFT compliance and other regulatory requirements.
- Ensure policies and procedures align with legal and regulatory standards
3. Training and Presentation Preparation
- Develop and deliver training sessions on AML/CFT compliance and other legal topics for team members and relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare presentations and materials to effectively communicate legal and compliance requirements to internal audiences.
- Participate in the induction and training of team members.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:
Qualifications Required:
- A Law degree from a reputable institution A masters’ degree would be an advantage.
- At least two years’ experience in similar position.
- Proven experience of AML/CFT is mandatory.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
