C-Care is currently looking for Nursing Supervisors to be a part of the dynamic and talented multicultural healthcare team at C-Care Wellkin. The selected candidates will report directly to the Head of Nursing and will be assigned to the following departments:
NICU
MATERNITY
WARDS
What you will be doing:
1. Clinical Duties
• Ensure safe admission and discharge of patients.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients' care.
• Assist in direct care when necessary.
• Ensure high standard of clinical care to effective leadership of staff, patients and visitors.
• Ensure safe working environment for staff and patients.
• Participate in doctors' round.
• Co-ordinate patient care with other departments.
• Manage ward stock/inventory.
• Check emergency drugs, equipment and ensure they are maintained.
• Follow all hospital clinical protocols and procedures.
• Ensure high standard of ward cleanliness through liaison with hospitality services.
• Administer prescribed medication.
• Act as a link between ward staff and hospital administration. Analyse and report information provided through appropriate clinical equipment and act upon this gathered information (e.g. blood pressure monitoring)
• Perform other duties as may be assigned
2. Managerial Duties
• Ensure ward statistics are regularly maintained and submitted
• Maintain good team-working by working as a multi-disciplinary unit
• Organise orientation program for new staff and students
• Encourage staff development
• Set, monitor and maintain standards of practice
• Work towards evidence-based practice
Produce monthly duty rotation including internal rotation onto nights
• Undertake appraisal, monitoring and training of junior colleagues.
• Ensure confidentiality is maintained.
• Compliance with infection control policies and participate with the infection control team, ensuring good cleaning standards are maintained.
• Keep accurate and complete records of activities and communications consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
• Assist in the development of policies and guidelines pertaining to area of work and ensure that members of the team carry out practice within these guidelines.
• Monitor the quality of work on own area and alerts others to quality issues.
• Demonstrate an understanding of research and development and how this influences nursing practice.
• Work in ways that minimise risks to health, safety and security.
• Observe the rules and standard as laid down by the Nursing Council of Mauritius and in liaison with the supervisor; ensure these are adhered to by members of the team. Maintain and develop professional knowledge and competence in accordance with the council guidelines.
• Ensure safe manning as per hospital manning and patient acuity.
3. Patient Experience
• Ensure safety of patients at all times
• Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by understanding the needs of patients
• Ensure that patients' belongings are properly stored
.
4. Quality and Infection Control
• Monitor the quality of work on own area and alerts others to quality issues
• Use and maintain resources efficiently and effectively and encourages others to do so
• Ensure quality service and implement any update/ improvements required
• Compliance with infection control policies and participate with the infection control team, ensuring good cleaning standards are maintained
• Effective disposal of waste
• Demonstrate an understanding of research and development and how this influences nursing practice
What are we looking for?
• Minimum Diploma in Nursing
• Registered with Nursing Council of Mauritius
• At least 5 years of work experience
• Computer literate
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
• Flexible to work to perform day and night duties
