The mechanical fitter role is to ensure the operational integrity and reliability of heavy machinery and production equipment within a manufacturing environment. This is achieved through a combination of preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis, and timely repairs to minimize downtime.
Core Responsibilities:
- Fabrication & Assembly: Cutting, grinding, shaping, and welding metal components to build and assemble new machinery or repair existing ones.
- Maintenance & Repair: Performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing faults, and repairing issues on paper machines, conveyors, pumps, and other plant equipment.
- Welding Expertise: Applying various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, arc) to mend or create parts, ensuring high-quality, durable joins.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Reading and understanding technical drawings, schematics, and specifications to guide assembly and fabrication.
- Fault Finding: Diagnosing problems in pneumatic and hydraulic systems and implementing effective solutions.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly adhering to site safety rules, including Permit to Work systems and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
The candidate needs to have strong mechanical aptitude and be able to work on shifts (morning and night)
