Maths Teacher (Themis International School)

Themis International School, in Beau Plan, is hiring a passionate Maths Teacher for the secondary cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality mathematics instruction:
• Teach engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons for the secondary cycle, ensuring all students are challenged and supported to reach their potential.

• Plan and collaborate:
• Participate in weekly planning and collaborative meetings with colleagues and the Principal, sharing responsibilities and promoting reflective teaching practices.

• Support curriculum implementation:
• Embed knowledge, skills, and understanding into classroom practice, making meaningful connections between subjects through cross-curricular projects.

• Foster a positive learning environment:
• Create inclusive, stimulating learning experiences that develop students’ personal qualities, curiosity, and global awareness.

• Assess and support learning:
• Use effective assessment strategies to track student progress, guide lesson planning, and provide feedback to improve learning outcomes.

• Promote professional growth:
• Engage with current educational research, share best practices, and take part in training and development to enhance teaching effectiveness.

• Uphold school values:
• Model the school’s shared vision, support school initiatives, contribute to community events, and maintain high professional standards.

• Safeguarding and wellbeing:
• Operate in line with the school’s safeguarding, health and safety, and child protection policies at all times.

• Community engagement:
• Support school activities, recreation duties, and contribute positively to the overall life of the school community.

Key Competencies & Qualifications:

• Diploma or Degree in Education, with experience in delivering an outcome-based curriculum
• Proven experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level
• Fluent in both spoken and written English
• Experience teaching in a multicultural or multilingual secondary school environment
• Previous experience in an international secondary school
• Be confident and able to embrace the demands of the curriculum and to teach these effectively to promote positive outcomes for pupils
• Effective preparation of lessons/units/notes and schemes of work
• Excellent behaviour management of class(es) that also promote positive outcomes for pupils.
• Strong communication skills particularly with pupils and parents.
• Tailored teaching approach based on thorough understanding of each child’s strength and needs.
• Manage and conduct assessments, progress reports, learning journeys throughout the academic year in line with school policy.
• Be Flexible, open minded and keen to continually develop own teaching skills.
• Be an excellent role model for our pupils and ensure effective education is provided for all types of pupils.
• Be positive and play an active part in the Themis community
