To develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and hygiene policies across McDonald's restaurants to ensure a safe environment for employees, customers, and contractors. The Health and Safety Officer plays a critical role in enforcing company standards and national regulations related to food safety, workplace safety, and environmental hygiene.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  •  Monitor and enforce compliance with occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA) and food safety standards in all McDonald’s restaurants.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments across restaurant locations.
  • Identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate safety issues.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports and implement preventive measures.
  • Lead staff training programs on workplace safety, food handling, hygiene practices, fire safety, and emergency response.
  • Ensure strict compliance with food safety guidelines and national health regulations.
  • Liaise with local regulatory authorities for inspections, permits, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain documentation of health and safety procedures, incident logs, inspection reports, and audit findings.
  • Participate in new restaurant openings and ensure safety standards are implemented from the start.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to create a safety-first culture across all levels of the organization.

Key Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, food safety standards, and risk management.
  • Strong analytical skills for auditing and incident investigation.
  • Excellent communication and training delivery skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work across multiple sites.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Occupational Health & Safety Management.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in food service, hospitality, or retail environments.
  • Knowledge in First Aid, food safety standards, or ISO is an advantage.
