Health & Safety Officer at Teakworld on a full-time position.

 

Job Scope:

The Health & Safety Officer at Teakworld ensures a safe, compliant, and fully operational work environment across all company sites. This role combines occupational health and safety oversight with corporate facilities management, ensuring both employee well-being and optimal workplace functionality. The officer proactively identifies risks, implements safety protocols, and manages building operations while coordinating with internal teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Health & Safety:

1.     Diligently carry out duties of Health & Safety Officer as stipulated by OSHA.

2.     Conduct risk assessments to identify work areas of high risk of operational hazards and to provide corrective measures.

3.     Carry out site audits to identify risks; proffer recommendations pertaining to safety matters especially with amenities, hygienic standards, tools, equipment, plants and scaffolds.

  • Coach, educate and dispense training sessions / tool box talks / inductions to employees;
  • Deliver training sessions to promote safe working practices;
  • Investigate to identify root cause of accidents or other unsafe working conditions;
  • Chair, arrange and set up Health & Safety committees;
  • Record, report, compile and analyze statistics which are of crucial nature to the function;
  • Arrange, assist and direct employees towards appropriate medical care;
  •  Perform clerical tasks – filing, data entry, follow up and compile data, related to the functions of Health & Safety;
  • Prepare and submit periodic report of safety hazards;
  • Compile, update and deploy health & Safety policies and procedures;
  • Implement and deploy resources to ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant local legislations;
  • Liaise with local authorities for all matters pertaining to Health and Safety, Fire Certificates, Lodging accommodation permits, health clearance and other related requirements;
  • Distribute, compile and record all Personal Protective Equipment issued to employees;
  • Coach and lead team to maintain the dormitories in good hygienic conditions and within the required norms;
  • Investigate, follow-up, attend to and feedback on all cases of injuries, accidents and sickness;
  • Any other cognate duties assigned in the performance of duties.

Facilities Management:

  • Coordinate and oversee all facilities management activities and corporate building maintenance.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers for repairs, preventive maintenance, and operational support.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on facilities matters.
  • Monitor building systems, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure efficiency, safety, and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance schedules, upgrades, and inspections.
  • Support sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency, waste management, and environmental compliance.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in health & safety, facilities management, or a related field.
  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of local labor laws, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Proven experience in facilities management is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and recommend improvements.
  • Relevant certifications in First Aid, Fire Safety, or safety management are an advantage.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.
