A fitness equipment technician installs, maintains, and repairs exercise equipment in gyms, fitness centers, and sometimes in people's homes. They diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure equipment is safe and functional. They also need strong problem-solving skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
The person should have experience in similar role. An advance if have worked with companies like Matrix fitness equipment retailer/ distributor. English speaking is important.
Key Responsibilities:
Assembling and setting up new fitness equipment according to manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines. All equipment such as Cardio/ Strength, Pin loaded equipment, Plate loaded and Free weights, Cable machines.
Performing routine preventative maintenance on various types of equipment, including cardio machines, strength training devices, and other fitness apparatus. This involves lubricating parts, adjusting settings, and checking for wear and tear.
Diagnosing and repairing malfunctioning equipment, identifying issues through inspection and testing, and executing solutions efficiently.
Maintaining detailed logs of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory, ensuring all records are up-to-date and accurate.
Conducting regular safety checks on all equipment to ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.
Providing exceptional customer service to gym staff and members, addressing their concerns and questions related to equipment.
Managing and maintaining an inventory of spare parts and tools, ensuring they are readily available when needed.
Working with other technicians, gym staff, and management to ensure smooth operations and efficient maintenance of equipment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, with experience in diagnosing and repairing equipment.
Ability to identify and resolve complex issues related to fitness equipment.
Ensuring all maintenance and repairs are performed accurately and thoroughly.
Clearly communicating with gym staff, management, and customers about equipment issues and maintenance needs.
Being able to lift and move equipment, and work in various positions for extended periods.
Effectively managing time and prioritizing tasks to ensure efficient maintenance and repair schedules.
Prioritizing safety in all aspects of work, adhering to safety regulations and procedures.
