The Disc Jockey (DJ) is responsible for providing music and sound services for activities, programs, and events organized at the Centre.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide music and sound support for centre activities, events, workshops, and celebrations
- Set up, operate, and dismantle sound systems, mixers, microphones, speakers, and audio equipment
- Conduct sound checks before events and ensure optimal sound quality throughout
- Monitor audio levels and troubleshoot technical issues in real time
- Maintain and care for sound equipment, ensuring proper storage and functionality
- Ensure all audio setups meet safety and technical standards
- Coordinate with Marketing team, facilitators and Centre management, facilitators.
- Select and play age-appropriate and culturally suitable music in line with the Centre’s values
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and noise regulations
- Assist with acoustic performance requirement which includes the sound balance in terms technical support for microphones and audio-visual needs
- Promote a respectful and inclusive atmosphere at all times
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of multiple music genres suitable for diverse audiences
- Good sound control and mixing skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Responsible, punctual, and team-oriented
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Qualifications and Experience
- Previous experience as a DJ or sound technician preferred
- Familiarity with DJ and sound equipment and software
- Basic technical knowledge of audio systems
- Experience working in community or centre-based environments is an advantage
