Job Profile
We are looking for a Customs Clerk to join our dynamic Logistics Department who will facilitate the smooth movement of imported and exported goods across borders by ensuring compliance with customs regulations and coordinating shipment.
Role and Responsibilities
- Process import & export bill of entries (both airfreight & sea freight).
- Liaise with various officials such as freight forwarders and customs to ensure efficient clearance of goods.
- Classify goods according to tariff coding system.
- Process payment online (Trade Net System) for Customs vat/duties applicable.
- Collect delivery order/release order/ECDN from freight forwarders/shipping lines.
- Assist whenever there is any verification at seaport/airport or any warehouses.
- Accompany customs officers when handling duty free goods for exportation/transfers, etc.
- Liaise with transport providers/store and respective departments for delivery of goods.
- Assist in the export process such as preparation of export docs, application of export permits, processing online certificate of origin and marine insurance cover.
- Any other cognate duties may be assigned by the Head of Department.
Qualifications and Experience
- Higher School Certificate or Diploma in Logistics.
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar position will be an advantage.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitude
- Good working knowledge of import and export procedures.
- Familiarity with customs tariffs and other relevant regulations in connection with importation and exportation.
- Good verbal and written communication in both English and French.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to be dynamic and proactive to meet deadlines.
- Customer service oriented.
- Valid driving licence for private car will be an advantage.
