ROLE PURPOSE:
The purpose of this role is to ensure the effective implementation and coordination of compliance processes, in line with requirements and the operational standards of BARNES Mauritius, particularly in the areas of KYC, AML/CFT laws, and client due diligence.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure internal compliance procedures are aligned with regulatory requirements and best practices whilst keeping abreast and records of the latest changes
- Collect, verify, and organize KYC documentation for all clients and transactions.
- Conduct due diligence and screening of clients and third parties using tools such as World-Check.
- Prepare and submit Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) when necessary.
- Liaise with the FIU and other regulatory bodies in response to formal requests or audits.
- Act as a key point of contact for consultants and management regarding compliance-related matters.
- Ensure internal compliance procedures are aligned with regulatory requirements and best practices
- Support the training and awareness of internal teams on AML and compliance obligations.
- Assist in the drafting and periodic review of internal compliance policies and protocols.
- Collaborate with the Finance & Admin team to ensure seamless integration of compliance into operational workflows.
- To identify potential areas of compliance vulnerabilities and to develop corrective action plans to deter compliance risk
- To prepare Compliance Reports, on non-compliance issues for onward submission to Management
- Any other duty that the Finance & Admin Manager or General Manager will consider as relevant
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSc Degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 2 years in compliance, AML or regulatory roles
KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
- Strong knowledge of FIAMLA, FSC guidelines, and KYC/AML best practices
- Proficient in using compliance tool such as World-Check, GoAML or equivalent
BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES:
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- High-level of integrity and discretion
