We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Embryologist to join our team in a dynamic healthcare setting. This pivotal role involves performing and overseeing a comprehensive range of IVF laboratory procedures, ensuring the highest standards in clinical embryology, patient care, and laboratory compliance.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on expertise in embryo culture, ICSI, vitrification, embryo biopsy, and related IVF techniques, with a proven track record in achieving high success rates. The role requires a strong commitment to quality assurance, ethical standards, patient counseling, and continuous innovation in reproductive science.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Clinical and Laboratory Duties
- Perform and oversee all IVF lab procedures: oocyte retrieval, ICSI, IVF, embryo culture, biopsy, freezing/thawing (vitrification/warming), and sperm preparation.
- Conduct embryo grading and selection for transfer or freezing.
- Handle oocyte and embryo vitrification and warming according to established protocols.
- Monitor fertilization and embryo development, documenting critical stages.
- Participate in preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) procedures, including embryo biopsy and coordination with the lab.
2. Quality Assurance & Compliance- Ensure compliance with national and international ART standards (e.g., ESHRE, ASRM, ISO).
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, logs, and patient files.
- Implement and monitor laboratory quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) programs.
- Assist in accreditation processes as required(e.g., ISO 15189, CAP).
- Maintain and ensure calibration of equipment and sterility and safety within the lab.
3. Leadership & Supervision- Mentor and supervise junior embryologists and lab technicians as needed.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts in case of procedure anomalies or equipment failure.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs and update them as necessary.
- Coordinate with clinical and nursing teams for synchronized IVF cycles.
4. Research and Development- Participate in research projects and publish findings where applicable.
- Evaluate and implement new technologies and techniques to improve success rates.
- Attend and present in scientific meetings, workshops, and continuing education programs.
5. Patient Interaction and Ethics- Counsel patients as needed regarding embryo quality, fertilization outcomes, and available options.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure informed consent.
- Support ethical handling of gametes and embryos in line with legal and institutional frameworks.
Required Qualifications:- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Clinical Embryology, Reproductive Science, or related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience in an IVF laboratory, including ICSI, vitrification, and embryo biopsy.
- Worked in an IVF lab with >50% success rate.
- Certification from relevant ART bodies (e.g., ESHRE Certified Clinical Embryologist, ACE, ASCP).
- In-depth knowledge of embryology protocols, lab regulations, and best practices.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Additional Notes:- Rotational weekend and on-call duties are expected.
- Emotional resilience and precision are essential given the sensitive nature of fertility treatments.
- Participation in continuous improvement initiatives is mandatory.
