Responsible for greeting arriving and departing guests in an enthusiastic and courteous manner in line with the culture of Hilton Mauritius Resort & Spa.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Grasps, lifts and/or carries or otherwise moves packages, luggage or boxes from cars, buses or vans, placing luggage onto baggage carts and storing in secure area for retrieval at a later stage.
  • Retrieves luggage from the luggage storage for guests who are checking out of the hotel.
  • Ensures that the delivery of luggage is in an efficient, quick and orderly manner for both arriving and departing guests.
  • Responds immediately to guests’ inquiries regarding hotel features, facilities and services.Is able to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Provides clear directions to hotel facilities and proposes to escort guests to their destination.
  • Is able to provide information on the product range offered by the hotel, and gives information on restaurants and attractions in the immediate vicinity.
  • Books taxis for guests and organizes airport transfers, manages effectively the taxi service.
  • Organizes excursions and golf sessions.
  • Liaises with the Room Service to organize picnic baskets for guests going on excursions.
  • Manages taxi vouchers, prepares and sends list to Finance and/or HR department as and when required.
  • Distributes the morning newspapers to guestrooms.
  • Ensures that the luggage room and its belongings are kept clean and well maintained.
  • Delivers messages, faxes and other items to guestrooms.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to health or safety. The hotel will provide the required PPE. Team Members will be trained in the proper use and care of any assigned PPE. It is the Team Member’s responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to his Manager.
  • Complies with Health and Safety and fire procedures and regulations.
  • Able to follow and enforce all hotel standards, including safety procedures/standards and able to recognize and act in emergency situations as per disaster manual.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

 The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Sufficient manual dexterity in both hands to be able to load and upload luggage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively deal with a variety of audience, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Knowledge in IT (Microsoft Office)

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

High School Certificate or equivalent preferred
