The Associate SAM will be reporting to the Coordinator /Senior Manager SAM and will assist in the bank's Recovery/collection process. The role involves following up on a portfolio of NPA Accounts to have the accounts repaid or turn around into standard accounts.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow up on a portfolio of impaired accounts (NPA)
  • Inform clients about their debts and induce them to pay arrears as and when required
  • Identify and attend clients’ problems and queries
  • Send reminder letters and call the default clients for payment.
  • Arrange with customers for payment of arrears in accordance with procedures and effect site visits.
  • Communicate outstanding balances in a timely manner to clients
  • Follow up on repayment plan/promise to pay
  • Maintain a complete debt collection portfolio
  • Prepare notes to approving authority for rehabilitation of accounts.
  • To maintain records and follow up of accounts.
  • Follow up on restructured accounts and check if repayment terms and any other terms abided to.
  • Prepare cases for legal action e.g., Sale by levy /Auction
  • Prepare cases for recovery action towards Commissioner for Borrowers Protection.
  • Attend hearing where bank should be represented at Commissioner for Borrowers Protection Office.
  • Monitor cases and liaise with Insolvency Practitioners
  • Liaise with external service providers (e.g., Ushers, Notaries, Auctioneers)
  • Compile management information for internal & external reporting
  • Assist repossession/ disposal of leased assets
  • Attend meetings as per legal requirements where bank should be represented for recovery of debt purposes.

 PREREQUISITES:

  • Degree in Banking / Finance / Accounting or any relevant field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a relevant role the Banking sector would be an advantage.
