The successful candidate will play a key role in providing governance and legal support to all companies serviced by the Central Services team of Alteo Limited.

 

Alteo Ltd is looking for a dynamic professional to join our Governance and Legal Affairs team. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing governance and legal support to all companies serviced by the Central Services team of Alteo Limited (including Alteo Limited and Miwa Sugar Limited) (collectively, the “Companies”), with a particular focus on strategic projects and banking and finance matters.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the drafting and review of legal documentation relating to the Companies’ operations, transactions and strategic projects.
  • Provide sound legal advice and guidance, and conduct legal research and analysis, on governance and legal matters.
  • Support the execution of corporate and financing transactions and, liaise with external counsel, financial institutions and other stakeholders as required.
  • Monitor and report on legislative and regulatory developments impacting the Group.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and review of  governance frameworks, policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, corporate objectives and best practices.
    • Liaise with regulators, the Registrar of Companies and other authorities.
    • Support the ongoing review of governance frameworks and internal controls to ensure their continued effectiveness.
    • Provide general assistance to the Head of Governance, Corporate and Legal Affairs as may be required.

 

Profile

  • LLB or equivalent degree from a recognised university.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a legal role, ideally within a corporate or banking environment.
  • Professional qualifications as a barrister or attorney would be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, drafting and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of banking law, corporate law and commercial law
  • Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams and with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proactive, dynamic and results-oriented, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
