Purpose Of Job

The Associate Director will play a pivotal role in supporting the leadership and management of several specialized teams in collaboration with the Director. The Associate Director will be accountable for overseeing service delivery and team performance, ensuring that all client expectations and requirements are consistently met across designated service lines.
The Associate Director will be responsible for setting, monitoring, and reporting on key team metrics, ensuring ongoing achievement of service standards. This role also includes line management responsibilities, encompassing performance management, staff development, and coaching to drive team success.
This is a critical position focused on delivering high-quality services to our largest accounting client. The Associate Director will provide day-to-day project oversight, lead process reviews and improvements, and maintain ongoing project management to support both client and business objectives.
Main Responsibilities And Duties
  • Support the Director in leading multiple specialized teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and timely services to clients across all relevant service lines.This is a wide ranging role and will involve assisting the team Director with a variety of tasks.
  • Take ownership for meeting service delivery targets, including both the volume (e.g., number of sets of accounts or trial balances prepared) and the quality (targeting 95% first-time accuracy) of deliverables.
  • Direct supervision of allocated teams and providing support to each of the team managers within the team. This will include a broad range of responsibilities, including oversight of delivery of work, coaching and development of the team and management of team performance. 
  • To review existing accounting and related operational activities for operational effectiveness and efficiency.Where improvements are agreed as being required, to work with all relevant stakeholders to design and fully implement solutions, which need to be supported by operational guidance and training prior to implementation.
  • Monitor and review the quality of team outputs and ensure adherence to established operational processes and procedures at all times.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and additional training to broader teams, with responsibility for ensuring consistently high-quality and timely work.
  • To develop strong, collaborative working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.To work closely with all team and project stakeholders to ensure sharing of key knowledge and minimisation of duplication of effort.
  • Deliver technical accounting support and guidance, facilitating regular workshops or training sessions to upskill.team members and enhance their expertise.
  • Establish and maintain robust operational guidelines, policies, procedures, and controls, ensuring broad team compliance and suggesting updates as required.
  • Lead internal team meetings, communicating key information regarding priorities, deadlines, and work allocations to ensure alignment and clarity.
  • Report regularly to the Director on work progress, highlighting issues or risks as they arise to ensure timely resolution.
  • Participate in client calls / meetings and be able to report confidently and accurately on the status of all ongoing work.
  • Demonstrate strong collaboration with other Associate Directors and Directors to ensure consistency and alignment of goals.

Essential Requirements
  • Fully qualified ACCA member.  
  • Minimum of 10 years' relevant experience, ideally in a similar leadership role.  
  • Demonstrated experience in a multi-jurisdictional financial services environment.
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced and dynamic work settings.
  • Strong technical knowledge and practical expertise in bookkeeping and accounting.  
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Advanced analytical and financial review skills.  
  • High level of numeracy with a proven track record of accuracy.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and consistently meet strict deadlines.
  • Effective team management skills with experience in delivering results within tight timeframes.
  • Proficient IT skills: advanced user of Microsoft Excel is essential and experience of PowerBI would be advantageous.
  • Experience leading teams with a high level of emphasis on service delivery excellence.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrable experience in staff development and performance management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Direct experience interfacing with external clients.
  • Robust project management abilities, with a successful history of delivering complex projects.
