Emtel is hiring an Accounts Officer who will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s fixed asset register, ensuring accurate recording, tracking, and reporting of fixed assets in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with fixed asset policies and procedures
- Timely assignment of tag numbers to fixed assets
- Prepare capital expenditure (Capex) costing estimates
- Record additions and disposals of fixed assets
- Monitor assets in progress for capitalization and project costs tracking
- Review and record depreciation expenses
- Reconcile the fixed asset register with the general ledger
- Prepare estimates for asset retirement obligations
- Conduct regular physical counts of fixed assets across showrooms, offices and cell sites
- Identify and resolve discrepancies found during physical asset counts
- Facilitate the disposal or sale of fixed assets as needed
- Support the accounts payable activities when required
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree holder or partial completion of ACCA Level 2
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a finance-related role
- Knowledge of fixed asset management is an added advantage
Preferred Skills and Aptitudes:
- Proactive problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Capable of performing effectively in a fast-paced environment and meeting tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English and French
- Positive, can-do attitude
- Proficient in MS Office applications and accounting software
