Develop, implement and maintain safety and health policies and procedures in accordance with legal requirements and organizational standards.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • To apply and ensure fire certificates are up to date. 

  • Conduct regular risk assessments across all facilities; identify hazards and implement corrective measures to ensure a safe working environment. 

  • Carry out monthly safety inspections and audits; prepare reports detailing observations, non‑conformities and recommended improvements. 

  • Identify training needs and organize health and safety training sessions for employees, including emergency response, evacuation procedures and safe working practices. 

  • Lead investigations into workplace accidents, incidents or near misses; prepare detailed incident reports and recommend preventive measures. 

  • Develop, update and implement emergency preparedness and response plans; including evacuation procedures and first‑aid readiness. 

  • Ensure availability, proper usage and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across all operational areas. 

  • Assist in the management and coordination of Health & Safety Committee activities, including meeting preparations and follow‑ups. 

  • Prepare and submit periodic health and safety reports to management, highlighting trends, risks and improvement opportunities. 

  • Collaborate with all departments to address safety concerns and foster a strong culture of safety within the organization. 

  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned. 

Profile: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent qualifications. 
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar Health & Safety role.

  • AvailabilityAbility to work on a part‑time basis, including flexible or irregular hours when required.

  • Skills & Competencies: 

  • Strong knowledge of occupational safety and health regulations and best practices 

  • Experience conducting audits, risk assessments and incident investigations 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (English & French) 

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail 

  • Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools 

  • Positive attitude and strong team‑spirit 

  • Ability to work flexible or irregular hours when required
