Job Summary
The Accounts Officer shall be able handle the financial records of the Company including arranging payment requests, making payments for goods and services and verifying accounts payable. The role also include to assist the Senior Finance Manager in analysing all financial activities, ensuring compliance with accounting and legal requirements and preparing budgets amongst other tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintains financial records.
- Ensures that all controls related to month end closure are balanced and verified.
- Processes accounts payable transactions as and when required.
- Processes payment to suppliers and ensures that company accounts are paid on time.
- Ensures completeness of all required supporting documents for all payments vouchers.
- Reconciles supplier accounts and statements.
- Assists the Accountant in preparation of monthly management accounts, quarterly packs, year-end Financial Statements and budgets.
- Handles inquiries from internal and external sources.
- Prepares and coordinates internal and external audit assignments.
- Assists in implementation and follow up of audit recommendations.
- Ensures that all schedules are always accurate and reconciles up to the Trial Balance.
- Assists in preparation of VAT and TAX returns.
- Performs cashier duties as and when required.
- Updates and maintains local vendor database in a timely manner.
- Maintains Fixed Asset Register and ensures that same is updated on a timely basis.
- Any other cognate duties.
Job Requirements
- Partly ACCA qualified with the minimum fundamental levels and at least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and under pressure
- Self-motivated and detail oriented
- Quick to collaborate and coordinate with team members when necessary
- Strong interpersonal skills
