We are currently looking for a qualified and proactive Accountant to join our Finance Team. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with senior finance leadership and play a key role in financial reporting, operational finance, and strategic business support.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
1. Financial Reporting & Consolidation
- Prepare monthly financial reports and process accounting entries in Sage Pastel Partner, ensuring adherence to month-end deadlines.
- Assist the Finance Manager in loading accounts on Hyperion and performing group consolidation.
- Prepare and submit monthly, half-yearly, and annual management accounts to the Group CFO and divisional executives.
- Assist with the preparation of year-end financial statements, including supporting disclosures and declarations.
2. Operational Finance & Banking
- Process invoices, interbank payments (IB), and quotations in a timely manner.
- Liaise with our management company to resolve queries.
- Manage client and revenue-related activities in the divisional shipping system.
- Distribute divisional rates and support day-to-day banking and finance operations.
3. Cash Flow & Ledger Management
- Maintain and update the divisional daily cash flow schedule.
- Review and reconcile cash books, intercompany ledgers, and prepayment accounts.
- Conduct ageing debtors analysis and post relevant provision and revenue-related entries.
4. Audit & Ad-Hoc Support
- Support internal and external audit processes, respond to audit queries, and resolve discrepancies.
- Carry out other ad-hoc accounting and administrative tasks as requested by the Finance Manager, Divisional CFO, or Company Directors.
5. Compliance & Client Onboarding
- Assist with onboarding new clients, ensuring compliance with Mauritian AML/CFT regulations.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews and assessments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date KYC records for all clients.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualifications: ACCA qualified member; a university degree will be an added advantage.
- Experience: 4–6 years in accounting and/or client management, with exposure to compliance functions.
- Systems Knowledge: Proficiency in MS Office and Sage Pastel Partner/Evolution; familiarity with online banking platforms is preferred.
- Languages: Excellent communication skills in both English and French (spoken and written).
- Soft Skills: Organized, analytical, proactive, diplomatic, and a strong team player with a results-driven mindset.
