Data Scientist

The role requires strong analytical and statistical capabilities, excellent report writing, and the ability to translate complex data into clear business recommendations for senior management.

A description of your main scope of services, however not exhaustive, is detailed below:

1. Financial Data Analysis

• Analyse financial statements, KPIs, budgets, and forecasts to identify trends, variances, and key performance drivers
• Build predictive analytics models for revenue forecasting, cost optimisation, risk assessment, and financial planning
• Benchmark internal performance against market trends, industry standards, and competitor performance
• Interpret macro-economic indicators and sector movements to contextualise internal results
• Present insights and findings to the CFO and management teams 

2. Data Modelling & Advanced Analytics

• Develop statistical, machine learning, predictive, and forecasting models to support strategic and operational decisions
• Create dashboards and automated reporting tools using BI platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and accuracy across financial and operational datasets
• Maintain documentation and version control of models and analytical processes

3. Strategic Insight & Decision Support

• Translate complex data findings into clear, actionable business insights for senior management
• Conduct scenario modelling, sensitivity analyses, and market-impact forecasting
• Compare internal analytics with industry benchmarks and emerging sector trends to identify opportunities and risks
• Support long-term planning, capital allocation, investment analysis, and performance improvement initiatives
• Assist the HOD team in preparing board-level materials, strategic reports, and executive presentations

4. Reporting & Communication

•Prepare high-quality analytical reports, visualisations, and executive summaries
•Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data-driven decision-making across the company

5. Data Governance & Systems

• Maintain and improve internal data pipelines, data architecture, and analytics infrastructure
• Work with IT/data teams to enhance system reliability, data accuracy, and automation
• Support the implementation of advanced analytics tools and digital transformation initiatives

6. Market & Industry Analysis (New Section)

•Monitor external data sources, market research, and industry publications
• Integrate market data, sector benchmarks, and competitive intelligence into company analytics
• Identify performance gaps, emerging risks, and growth opportunities based on market shifts

7. Perform any other cognate duties within the scope of responsibilities

Skills & Competencies

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; proficiency in statistical methods and predictive modelling
• Advanced capability in predictive analytics, forecasting, and pattern recognition
• Strong ability to interpret internal results in relation to market trends, industry standards, and competitor dynamics
• Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills
• Business acumen, particularly in financial and strategic analysis
• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Excel, and related tools
• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, or Actuarial Science
• 5+ years’ experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or data science
• Experience in a financial environment or supporting financial analysis is highly preferred
• Hands-on experience with machine learning techniques, predictive modelling, and data visualisation tools
• Familiarity with ERP systems and financial data structures is an advantage
