Leal & Co Ltd is seeking a talented and driven Corporate Legal and Compliance Officer to join our growing team. If you're passionate about corporate law, compliance, and making a strategic impact, this is your opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-industry environment.
Your Role & Responsibilities:

  • As our Corporate Legal and Compliance Officer, you will:
  • Provide timely, accurate, and business-focused legal advice across a range of industries and subject matters.
  • Be a trusted expert in corporate, commercial, and employment law, supporting strategic decisions and operational excellence.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents, including commercial agreements, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor legislative changes and advise on their implications for group subsidiaries.
  • Lead compliance initiatives in collaboration with relevant departments to ensure alignment with legal standards and best practices.
  • Design and deliver impactful legal training sessions on key topics.
  • Act as a liaison with external counsel, government agencies, and regulatory bodies.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Qualified Law Practitioner (Barrister-at-Law or Attorney-at-Law).
  • Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) in a corporate/commercial law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Candidates with less experience may be considered if they demonstrate strong corporate legal or related exposure.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of Mauritian laws, with the ability to provide clear, actionable advice.
  • Confident in handling matters related to corporate, commercial, and labour law.
  • Skilled in delivering training across various legal and/or related topics.
  • Business-centric mindset with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
