We are seeking a highly organized and strategic DMC Logistics & Planning Manager to oversee the end-to-end planning, coordination, and execution of all logistics operations for our Destination Management Company (DMC) in Mauritius.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing transportation, excursions, events, staffing, and on-ground logistics for FIT (Fully Independent Travelers), groups, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events) clients, ensuring seamless service delivery and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Logistics & Operations Management
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all logistical aspects of tours, events, and programs across Mauritius.
- Oversee transportation arrangements, including fleet scheduling, vendor management, and route optimization.
- Manage excursion bookings, guides, hostesses, and equipment logistics in collaboration with partners and suppliers.
- Monitor and control the execution of daily operations to ensure quality, punctuality, and customer satisfaction.
Planning & Coordination
- Develop detailed operational plans and itineraries based on client requirements.
- Liaise with sales, reservations, and product teams to align logistical planning with client expectations and program objectives.
- Forecast resources and operational capacity needs based on confirmed and projected business volumes.
Supplier & Partner Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local service providers (transport, venues, activity operators, etc.).
- Negotiate and monitor service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure quality standards and cost-efficiency.
- Conduct regular evaluations and audits of suppliers for performance and compliance.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of logistics coordinators, drivers, and freelance support staff.
- Schedule, train, and supervise field personnel to ensure professional and consistent service.
- Implement and maintain a system of accountability and continuous performance improvement.
Budgeting & Reporting
- Manage operational budgets, ensuring adherence to financial goals and cost controls.
- Prepare reports on logistics performance, KPIs, and operational challenges for senior management.
- Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and reduce operational risks.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Tourism Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a logistics or operations management role, preferably within a DMC or travel-related environment.
- Strong understanding of Mauritius’ tourism infrastructure, geography, and logistics networks.
- Proven experience managing teams, coordinating complex events/programs, and handling suppliers.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills; ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English and French; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
- Proficient in MS Office and logistics/booking software (e.g., Tourplan, DMC software solutions).
