We are seeking a proactive and experienced HR Officer to manage human resource functions across our construction, trade, and retail operations, with a strong focus on foreign worker recruitment and compliance.

 

The successful candidate will oversee end-to-end HR processes, ensuring smooth coordination of labor needs, legal compliance, and the promotion of a safe, inclusive, and productive work environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes, with a strong emphasis on foreign and contract workers.
  • Coordinate the application, renewal, and compliance of work permits, residence permits, visa and other immigration formalities.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce HR policies and procedures across multiple operational sites.
  • Facilitate effective onboarding, training, and integration of both local and foreign staff.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and ensure proper documentation.
  • Support payroll processing, ensuring alignment with attendance, statutory deductions, and contract terms.
  • Address and resolve employee grievances, conduct disciplinary procedures, and manage conflict resolution.
  • Liaise with government agencies, labor inspectors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with labor laws.
  • Promote diversity, equity, safety, and adherence to fair labor practices in the workplace.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of HR experience in the construction, trade, or retail sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience in foreign labor management, including visa/work permit processing and immigration compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of Mauritian labour laws, employment regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to manage a dynamic, multi-site workforce in a fast-paced environment.
  • Multilingual abilities (especially languages relevant to foreign workers) will be considered an asset.
