Duties & Responsibilities

Assist electrician (and other craftsman where applicable) in carrying out a range of maintenance work, including minor electrical, plumbing, decorating, gardening and carpentry work.
Carry out repairs to buildings, furniture, equipment, fixtures and fittings.
Carry out general grounds maintenance and gardening work.
Assist with porterage and the movement and setting up of furniture and equipment.
Maintain competence in the use of power and hand tools required for general maintenance work.
Select tools and materials appropriate to the job to be carried out.
Prepare lists of materials and items required for carrying out minor repairs and maintenance.
Maintain an awareness of all health and safety rules applying to all general maintenance work and tools used to ensure that safe working practices are observed.
Maintain any required records of work carried out and report any defects in buildings, furniture and equipment.
Regularly inspect all fire extinguishers and fire alarms and assist with arranging fire drills and emergency evacuation of the building.
Observe all health, safety and hygiene rules.
