We are currently seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Client Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a broad range of accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and maintaining timely and accurate financial records. This role demands strong analytical capabilities, a deep understanding of local regulations, and the ability to deliver quality work under tight deadlines.
Principal duties & responsibilities
- Accounting
- Daily, weekly, and monthly bank transaction processing and bank reconciliation of client accounts.
- Processing of client entities’ journal entries.
- Preparation of cash flows, cheque issuance, and execution of online bank transfers.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements (in IFRS format) and management accounts using accounting software.
- Preparation and filing of tax returns (CTX & APS).
- Ensure timely preparation of all statutory and client-required accounting deliverables.
- Support audit processes of client accounts and liaise with auditors as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date filing of documents and financial records.
- Assist in the preparation of FSC quarterly and annual surveys.
Compliance and Legal
- Remain well-informed of all relevant local legislation.
- Ensure all deliverables comply with regulations of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), Registrar of Companies, and Mauritius Revenue Authority.
Payroll Services
- Prepare and submit client salaries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Stay current with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
- Ensure timely statutory filings with regulators.
Measurable Deliverables
- Adhere to internal deadlines and group standards for all deliverables.
- Understand client business operations and propose value-added services when required.
Ad-hoc
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by your line manager.
Profile Requirements
Qualifications:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- ACCA qualification (partly qualified) is a strong advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a similar accounting or finance role.
- Experience in a financial services or client-based environment is highly preferred.
Skills:
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS, and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and/or Sicorax and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Proactive attitude and strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
