Our client, an NGO's organisation is seeking to recruit a Head of School who will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, overseeing the academic and operational aspects of the school, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and services.

 

The incumbent will play a critical role in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, promoting excellence in teaching and student success, and building strong relationships with industry partners, stakeholders, and the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Co-designs the School's vision and strategy to ensure students are trained in an inclusive environment that supports their learning pace and provides academic and technical assistance for their progress and success.
  • Ensure staff operates within labour laws, internal policies, and regulatory frameworks like MQA and MITD.
  • Develop and implements the school's vision, mission, and strategic plans in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Fosters an environment that encourages innovation, research, and continuous improvement in teaching methodologies and course delivery.
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance and retention and implement strategies to improve student success.
  • Represent the school to external stakeholders, including industry partners, accrediting bodies, and the community.
  • Manage the school's facilities, equipment, and resources to support effective operations and a conducive learning environment.

Administration:
  • Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive policies, procedures, and administrative systems to streamline operations.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant local, state, and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards.
  • Oversee the enrollment process, including conducting interviews of potential students, managing admissions, and ensuring that the school meets enrollment targets.
  • Manage and maintain accurate Human Resource data of staff and collaborators.
  • Oversee the management of information related to the school's operations, including student records and other administrative information.
  • Ensure that data is secure, accurate, up-to-date, and used effectively to support decision-making.
  • Manages procurement processes for office supplies, educational resources, and materials needed for practical culinary classes.
  • Oversees the maintenance, repair, and improvement of school facilities, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.

Curriculum Development and Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure that academic programs and curricula adhere to accreditation standards and regulatory requirements, facilitating successful accreditation and re-accreditation processes.
  • Ensure that the Curriculum is fully developed for the whole course and monitors the implementation of the curriculum by technical and academic staff.
  • Oversee the development, review, and continuous improvement of academic programs and curricula.
  • Ensure that curricula align with industry standards, employer needs, and emerging culinary trends.
  • Stay informed about emerging educational technologies and pedagogical approaches, and facilitate their integration into the curriculum where appropriate.

Staff Training and Development:
  • Identify staff's training needs and plan that technical staff is being trained in Pedagogy, Curriculum implementation, Reporting and Student's Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Foster a culture of continuous professional development for educators and staff.
  • Identify training needs and provide opportunities for skill enhancement, pedagogical advancements, and industry exposure.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to identify areas for professional growth and development.
  • Support educators and chef instructors in developing effective teaching methodologies, assessment strategies, and instructional materials.

Student Affairs:
  • Build relationships with parents, alumni, and community members, fostering support for the school and its mission.
  • Ensure that the institution provides a safe and supportive learning environment for students, including measures to protect students from harm, such as bullying or harassment.
  • Ensure the provision of comprehensive student support services, including academic advising, career counselling, and personal development, including mental health services, academic support, and guidance on personal and social issues.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes student success, well-being, and personal growth.

Industry Networking and Partnerships:
  • Develop positive and sustainable relationships with hotels, restaurants and other potential employers that would offer pedagogical internships monitored by a Maitre de Stage.
  • Cultivates and maintains strategic partnerships with industry leaders, professional associations, and culinary organizations.
  • Facilitates industry advisory boards and seek input on program development, curriculum design, and emerging trends.
  • Explores and establish opportunities for student internships, externships, and employment pathways.

Communication:
  • Ensure clear and effective communication within the school community, including staff, students, parent.
  • Serve as the school's representative and liaison with external stakeholders, such as parents, community organizations, and educational authorities.
  • Maintain an up-to-date document of contact information for staff, students, parents, and collaborators.

Confidential responsibilities:
  • Responsible for keeping and managing all school keys.
  • Handle sensitive student information, including medical records, academic performance, and disciplinary history, ensuring privacy, sharing only with authorized individuals, and protecting it from unauthorized disclosure or access.
  • Accesses confidential staff information, including employment contracts, salaries, and performance evaluations, ensuring privacy, sharing only with authorized individuals, and protecting it from unauthorized disclosure or access.
  • Ensures the confidentiality of sensitive organizational information.
  • Upholds ethical responsibilities by maintaining the privacy of sensitive information, even in the absence of legal requirements.


Profile:

  • A degree or diploma in education, management a related field.
  • Experience in teaching, program development and management and experience in providing guidance and support to students.
  • Acceptable years of experience in a similar position.
  • Other qualifications in Administrative skills and NGO Management.
  • A valid Driving licence.
  • Excellent Communication Skills.
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage staff, motivate students, and set goals for the school.
