A leading professional and global services firm is looking for an experienced and detail-driven Senior Fund Accountant to join its Fund Services team in Ebene, Mauritius.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing the completion of Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations and financial reporting for a portfolio of clients. This position includes both supervisory responsibilities and active involvement in complex tasks, as well as the preparation of financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards. The role requires leadership, technical accounting expertise, and the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Professional qualification such as ACCA (preferably fully qualified or at least Level 3), CIMA, or similar
Minimum of 5 to 8 years’ experience in investment fund administration and accounting is preferred
Strong knowledge of accounting standards (especially IFRS) and investment products
Experience with open-ended investment funds and exposure to Variable Capital Company (VCC) structures
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under pressure
Strong numeracy and analytical skills
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Proven ability to coach, mentor, and lead junior staff
A proactive and solution-oriented mindset with the ability to identify and mitigate risks
Review and authorise NAV calculations and payments as an A Signatory to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
Supervise and review fund accountants' work, ensuring adherence to internal controls, regulatory requirements, and client deadlines
Oversee the setup, processing, and reconciliation of investments, cash flows, distributions, and sales proceeds
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards and internal policies
Manage the end-to-end audit process for allocated clients, coordinating with auditors to ensure timely completion
Perform and supervise accurate calculation of expenses, accruals, management, and administration fees
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Conduct weekly and daily cash reconciliations, managing the resolution of reconciling items
Supervise investor register maintenance and respond to investor queries where client approval is granted
Communicate directly with clients and auditors, resolving queries efficiently and maintaining strong relationships
Actively identify, assess, and escalate risks or process gaps, contributing to process improvements and risk mitigation initiatives
Investigate errors, complete internal reporting processes, and implement corrective actions
Assist with cross-team support in exceptional cases to ensure critical deadlines are met
Participate in team training, mentoring new team members, and driving consistency in process execution
Contribute to internal projects focused on risk reduction and operational efficiency
Ensure compliance with company policies, service level agreements, and regulatory requirements
Regularly update internal KPIs and records to reflect the status of deliverables and review points
Probation Period: 6 months
Hybrid Working Structure: Applicable only after successful completion of the probation period
Annual Leave Entitlement: 25 days per annum
During the probation period, leave accrues at 1 day per completed month
