We are seeking an dynamic Senior Non-Motor Underwriting Officer to assess and underwrite non-motor risks, drive profitable portfolio growth, and deliver tailored insurance solutions in collaboration with brokers, clients, and internal teams.
Main Responsibilities:
- Applying sound underwriting principles on all lines of business of the Non-Motor General Insurance department.
- Risk assessment and management.
- Risk Surveying
- Preparation, submission, recording and follow-up of quotations/tenders.
- Drafting of Policy Wordings for Facultative and Fronting General Insurance Businesses (excluding Financial Lines)
- Technical Support to the team members and all associated supporting departments
- Monitoring existing clients’ accounts
- Renewal Retention Ratio of 80%
- Providing guidance and assistance to internal and external customers
- Prompting growth, up selling and business acquisitions
- Ensuring Policy Processing on the System
- Issuing, preparing, and examining all Non-Motor General Insurance documents according to systems and applicable laws not limited to policy documents, cover notes, assignation letters, letter of intents.
- Preparation (groundworks include past claims, unpaid premiums, previous endorsements, etc) and issuance of renewal notices.
- Providing technical assistance to the team with regards to risk assessment
- Verifying quotation prepared by other team members
- Providing technical knowledge to junior staffs while providing technical coaching towards analytic underwriting reviews and decision making
- Ensuring that all policies are dispatched within the agreed SLAs.
- Direct technical analysis and placements while prioritizing and building long-term value through business acumen.
- Negotiate with local and international reinsurance brokers and reinsurers to obtain facultative reinsurance support and or special acceptances.
- Quotation Conversion Rates, renewal retention rates, renewal protocol and lost accounts
- Analysing special cases and provide Underwriting Manager with a preview of the cases
- Drafting of monthly reports pertaining to the profitability of the department
- Support your team to achieve their goals through sharing knowledge and developing expertise.
- Stay up to date with issues and trends and monitor market development.
Any other cognate duties that might be assigned to you in your course of employment.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of proven experience in the position.
- ACII or any relevant courses pertaining to the insurance sector would be an advantage
