A diligent and detail-oriented Legal and Compliance Officer with a strong academic foundation in law and management. This professional combines legal knowledge with a solid understanding of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management principles.

 

Main Duties:

  • Monitor and ensure the company’s compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Provide legal support by reviewing, drafting, and interpreting contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and assist with regulatory filings, audits, and inspections.
  • Conduct internal compliance reviews and assessments to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk.
  • Develop and implement compliance programs, including training and awareness initiatives for staff.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislative and regulatory developments affecting the business.
  • Support the legal department in dispute resolution, litigation support, and managing external legal counsel.
  • Ensure corporate governance requirements are met, including preparation and review of board resolutions, minutes, and statutory filings.
  • Maintain legal and compliance documentation and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Provide practical legal and compliance advice to management and departments on day-to-day matters.

 

Qualifications:

  • LLB (Hons) or BA in Law and Management from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in legal, compliance, or corporate governance roles (experience may vary depending on seniority of role).

Skills:

  • Good knowledge of corporate, commercial, employment, and regulatory law.
  • Strong understanding of compliance frameworks and risk management principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent analytical and research skills.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
