CAD Technician (MEP)

We are looking for an enthusiastic CAD Technician with a passion for technical excellence, who enjoys working collaboratively in multi-professional design teams and nurturing technical skills across team to be part of our Building Services Engineering Team in the Mauritius Office. 

The successful candidate will be expected to work on a number of projects, contributing to the production of all MEP CAD and Building Information Modelling deliverables.

Our projects are local, regional and international and will allow you to work and succeed in a multi-cultural business environment.

Main purpose of position: 

• Production of MEP CAD and Building Information Modelling deliverables across a diverse range of projects with minimal supervision.
• Modelling of a range of MEP services, including, but not limited to mechanical pipework, ventilation, lighting power, containment and drainage.
• Self-checking own drawings, models and BIM processes for accuracy and quality of output. Ensuring required standards are met.
• Contributing to the holistic use of BIM.
• Working on a range of projects to ensure deadlines are met on time and on budget.
• Help to resolve BIM/Revit/CAD coordination and design issues as well as troubleshooting problems.
• Coordination of services using Revit and Navisworks.
• Opportunities for further development, with guidance, support and training.

Requirements and skills:

• Diploma/Certificate in Building Services, Electrical, Mechanical from Technical Institute(s) or equivalent.
• Relevant experience in using computer tools for drafting and/or BIM modelling, e.g. AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit, Dynamo, Navisworks will be an advantage.
• Experience within the building services industry (consultancy or contractor).
• Good understanding of model and drawing production using Revit MEP.
• Experienced in preparation of drawings and models with limited input from engineers, using own experience to develop output from sketches provided by engineers.
• Knowledge of MEP systems and how services should be routed and coordinated to a design level of detail.
• Ability to communicate technical issues to co-professional, contractors and clients.
• Proven success of working in a team environment.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work on multiple projects.
• Ability to take responsibility for parts of projects and support less experienced team members.
